AI IN LEBANON: PERCEPTIONS, FEARS, AND FUTURE IMPACT

an Ipsos report titled “Spotlight Lebanon – Views on AI”, published in January 2025, highlighting public awareness, concerns, and expectations regarding artificial intelligence in Lebanon.

58% of respondents in Lebanon have heard about artificial intelligence (AI), but only 30% claim to have a good understanding of it.

Awareness of AI-powered products and services is low, with just 12% knowing which products use AI.64% of respondents believe AI could be dangerous and should be approached with caution.

21% feel nervous about AI-driven products, while 16% see more benefits than drawbacks, and 15% are excited about AI.

28% distrust companies using AI compared to those that don’t, while only 17% trust AI-powered firms to protect personal data.

49% of employed respondents believe AI will replace their jobs in the next five years, while 46% think it won’t.

In the past 3-5 years, only 11% say AI has profoundly changed their daily lives, but 27% believe it will in the future.

When asked about AI’s impact on the world in the next 3-5 years, 39% think it will improve life, 35% think it will worsen it, and 19% think it will stay the same.

16% believe AI is just a trend that will fade over time.The survey was conducted via 500 telephone interviews, covering a representative sample of Lebanon’s 18+ population.
